Training your body to function at its best is hard work. We all have our own personal health goals in mind when we go for our daily workout. I like to focus on the health goals I have set for myself when I workout. Remember, everything is a thought before it is an action. You must train your mind first to accomplish the health goals you set for yourself.
It is that time of year in Arizona where the very best place to get a workout in is the great outdoors! Last exercise blog we talked about a functional run workout, and as I said in that blog it can be modified to whatever you want. Well, here is another variation that allows you to get outdoors and enjoy this beautiful Arizona weather!
Alright, so this is what I call my fun park workout. It works like this, I usually just start from my house and pick a neighborhood park to run to. This is a great warm-up for my legs and heart and to get a sweat going. Once at the park I warm-up my upper body by doing arm circles, jumping jacks, or whatever else comes to mind that day. Now that the warm-up is done, I can get started on the exercises.
The best part about working out in the park is the jungle-gyms allow us to do so many different exercises. So here are 2 different variations of workout I have done in the past.
I call this one the 5-10-15 buildup:
- Start with 5 pull-up
- Then do 10 push-ups
- Then go over to a bench and do 15 bench jumps
Repeat this 10 times, resting and getting water when needed.
Another example is called the 10-30-10-30:
- Starting with 10 lunges
- Then a 30 second plank
- 10 pull-ups
- Then a 30 yard sprint
Repeat this 5 times, resting and getting water when needed.
The greatness in these workout is not in the numbers. Everyone can tailor the number to push themselves depending on the goals they have in mind. The greatness in these workout is the benefit your body receives.
“The key to health is frequency.” How often are you working on your health? Frequency in exercise, in eating real food and drinking water, in thinking positive thought, and most importantly getting your spine checked regularly by a Chiropractor.
