The most exciting news at Ryno Family Chiropractic is that we are seeing an increasing number of expecting moms that are interested in Chiropractic care throughout pregnancy and beyond. Ryno Moms!
Dr. Ryan is certified by the International Chiropractic Pediatrics Association (ICPA) in the Webster Technique. The Webster Technique is a specific analysis used for expecting mothers. Of course we can lay it out in more detail and you will be able to experience it at the office, but lets go over the Webster Technique in general.
The Webster Technique is unique because it specifically looks at the balance of the pelvis with a goal of reducing the effects of sacral subluxation/ SI joint dysfunction. In so doing neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is improved. Yes, that sounds a little complicated. To put it simply, as a Chiropractor I want to make sure that communication from mom to baby through the nervous system is uninterrupted. Also, I want to make sure the pelvis (including muscles and ligaments) are functioning properly so your little one has optimal room to move and grow! When this is accomplished both mom and baby are under less stress and allow for the best pregnancy and birth experience possible.
The Webster Technique is gentle and effective. It doesn’t matter how far along in pregnancy you are, the Webster Technique can be used.
Care following birth is also important for both mom and baby. Mom will be going through some major changes as her body starts to change and adapt back to pre-pregnancy form. No matter how natural, the birth process for baby is a physical stress and he/she should have the opportunity to be checked by a Chiropractor.
With all that being said, here is a great resource if you would like to learn a little more about the Webster Technique and Chiropractic pre- and post-natal. http://icpa4kids.org/
